Shake Your Plants: How a Dubai Hydration Startup Won Backing on Shark Tank Dubai
Editorial

Shake Your Plants (SYP), a Dubai-based wellness startup, won an investment from Amira Sajwani on Shark Tank Dubai. Entrepreneur Middle East reported the deal in June 2025. This article sets out what that report and other coverage say.
The deal as reported
According to Entrepreneur Middle East, Amira Sajwani invested AED 1.2 million in return for 20% equity, and the deal includes an AED 2 million line of credit. Sajwani is Managing Director at DAMAC, founder of Prypco and co-founder and COO of Amali Properties. Judges Elie Khoury and Mona Ataya also made offers, according to the same report.
The figures are not identical across sources. A post by co-founder Lia Coelho describes the deal as worth AED 1.5 million, and an Arabic-language report lists different totals. We use the Entrepreneur Middle East figures because they are the most detailed, and we recommend checking the founders’ announcements for the final signed terms.
The founders and the product
SYP was founded by Justine Dampt and Lia Coelho and launched in 2022, according to Gulf News, which names Dampt as founder and CEO. Dampt is a certified nutritionist and health coach. The idea began during the COVID-19 lockdowns, when she experimented with powders in her kitchen.
The products are plant-based powders sold in sachets to be mixed into water, including kombucha-based options. Entrepreneur Middle East reports a price of under AED 8.50 a sachet and says the products contain no added sugar or artificial colours. These are the company’s own product claims.
The 2022 recall
Entrepreneur Middle East and Gulf News both report that about 80,000 sachets were recalled shortly before the original 2022 launch because of a quality issue with the powder. Gulf News says the company then strengthened its testing, supplier checks and quality control.
Sustainability claims
The founders say they use fruit that would otherwise be discarded, which they say reduces waste and their carbon footprint. Gulf News also reports a company claim that the sachets carry a small fraction of the plastic and carbon footprint of single-use bottles. Both are company statements and have not been independently verified.
Other milestones reported
Gulf News reports that SYP closed a seed funding round by 2025, won an FMCG innovation startup award in 2024, and joined the Spinneys Incubator Programme, which is expected to place the products in UAE stores.
