Editorial

The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) and autonomous-vehicle company Oxa launched SHIFFT in early August 2026, according to the Dubai Media Office. It is described as a joint venture and a “future lab” for developing, trialling and validating autonomous logistics technology in Dubai.
What was announced
- SHIFFT sits within Dubai’s Research, Development and Innovation ecosystem.
- It will use Oxa’s self-driving software (Oxa Driver) and fleet-management software (Oxa Hub), designed to work with existing vehicle fleets.
- The first phase focuses on autonomous vehicles for ports and airports.
- The partners aim for a first commercial deployment in Dubai before the end of 2027, a target that may change.
Policy context
DFF links the venture to the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to double the emirate’s foreign trade by 2033. Khalifa Al Qama, head of Dubai’s RDI ecosystem, said the lab is intended to create economic opportunities and speed the adoption of advanced technologies, Gulf Business reports.
