Altibbi: The Arabic Digital Health Platform and Its $44 Million Series B

Altibbi is an Arabic-language digital health platform that combines health information with telehealth consultations. It launched in Amman, Jordan in 2011, according to Wamda, and has since been described as UAE-based and Jordan-born. This article reports its March 2022 Series B round and the figures published with it.

The funding round

In March 2022 Altibbi announced a $44 million Series B round. It was led by Foundation Holdings and Hikma Ventures, with existing investors Global Ventures and DASH Ventures taking part, according to Gulf News and Hikma. Wamda reports that the round brought total funding to about $50 million. One outlet initially reported a lower figure, but the company’s own announcement and most coverage give $44 million.

The company said the money would go toward expanding into online pharmacy and diagnostics sample collection, and toward more machine-learning work.

Scale at the time of the round

The following figures were published in March 2022 and are the company’s own. They are not current figures.

  • About 4.5 million telehealth consultations to date.
  • About 20 million unique visitors a month.
  • More than 1,500 active certified doctors.
  • Telehealth services in seven regional countries.
  • More than two million pages of health content.

What we could not confirm

Other numbers that circulate about Altibbi, such as more than 12,000 doctors or hundreds of millions of annual users, do not appear in the 2022 coverage and we could not find a primary source for them. If you represent the company and can supply current, documented figures, we will update this article.
