Fact-Checking Policy

How we check what we publish before and after it goes live.

Last updated: 13 October 2026

What we check

  • Names, job titles, company names and spellings.
  • Dates, locations, figures and funding amounts.
  • Quotes and attributions.
  • Claims about a person or company, especially anything that could affect reputation.

How we check

  • Each claim is matched to at least one reliable source, preferring primary sources such as government registers, regulators and the company itself.
  • Contested, sensitive or high-impact claims need stronger evidence, and we seek a response from the person or company concerned where fair to do so.
  • A claim we cannot support is removed, softened to what the evidence shows, or clearly attributed to its source.
  • Every profile shows its sources and a Last reviewed date.

User submissions

Members must provide sources for what they submit. Moderators check the sources before approving. If a submission cannot be supported it is returned for changes or rejected.

After publication

We re-check pages when new information appears or when someone reports a problem. To report an error, see our Corrections Policy.
